More Official Newsworthy SXSW News [Lil John, PJ Harvey]

A couple more brief official updates: Thursday, March 19 as part of the Universal Republic Records showcase, Lil John and Tori Amos will appear at La Zona Rosa with other guests. Additionally, PJ Harvey and her collaborator John Parish will be performing on Saturday, March 21 in support of their March 31 release A Woman and a Man Walked By. No word on where this is happening yet, but it will be part of the MusicFirst and Sound Exchange showcase, and will also feature Indigo Girls, Razorlight, White Lies and Parachute.

There's also some wristband news:

The initial round of 4000 wristbands will only be available to Austin residents and will be discounted to the price of $129 (includes tax and service charge) which is $10 less than in 2008. When the $129 wristbands sell out, or after Mar 9, 2009, additional wristbands will go on sale at a higher price to be announced. The list price for SXSW ‘09 wristbands is $180 each.

There aren't any dates for when these wristbands will go on sale, but you can use the SXSW SMS alert system (text the word “join” to 47979) to receive up-to-the-minute news. Though this year's wristbands are $10 less than last year's, they appear to have eliminated the lottery option -- "All sales will be on a first-come, first-served basis."
