Some good news for folks looking for free music, beer and good times during SXSW music: Gorilla vs Bear's annual Gorilla vs Booze party has been announced, and the lineup isn't anything to sneeze at.
It's happening Thursday, March 19 at the Peacock (that's east side, 515 Pedernales St) beginning at 12:30 p.m., and will feature Vivian Girls, White Denim, Wavves, the Golden Filter, Girls, Here We Go Magic, Harlem and DJ Sober. No wristband required, but since the Peacock is pretty small, it's recommended you get there early. More info over at GvsB, including an embedded playlist featuring music by all the artists on the bill.
In official news, My Old Kentucky Blog has announced their showcase as well, and though it requires a wristband it's bound to be on our radar. Featuring Delta Spirit, Viva Voce, Red Cortez and more, it's bound to be a desirable destination on Wednesday night (at the Radio Room on E. 6th St.).

Pecan Street Project Gets $10.4 Million Stimulus Grant

Gonna be difficult to top last year's G.v.Booze (Cool Kids, White Denim, Ghosthustler,) but looks like a blast. Perhaps the Peacock could transmit the performance inside to speakers or a screen outside for the people left outside.
