How about a little recap of Austin pop history this Wednesday? Back in the early '90s, Ethan Azarian led local band The Orange Mothers through four albums of sweetly reminiscent pop before folding; Austin label i eat records did us a favor a few years back by releasing a greatest hits, and then released Azarian's solo effort Cross'n Over. Since then, has kept busy in his art studio and by performing sporadically around town. New(er) songs like "Upside Down" show Azarian has not lost his touch for lovely pop melancholy.

Also performing are The Channel, a band who have a longstanding toehold in Austin's progressive pop fabric. The band was something of a home recording project begun by brothers Brent and Colby Pennington, which went on hold as the band explored other bands including The Arthurs and Ol' Pioneers. But in 2001 the group rebounded with Tones are Falling and then the 2004 mini-masterwork Personalized, a nod to both Elephant Six experimentation and group harmony and just plain ol' folk. The band took a hiatus in 2006, and this show will be their first in two years.

Also performing is Ryan Anderson, an acoustic troubadour who most recently recorded an album called Keep at Hand with The Poison Control Center.
