DJ Spooky at the Alamo, Rebirthing the Nation

DJ Spooky is hitting Austin hard this weekend, with a show at the Mohawk on Friday and an appearance at the Alamo Ritz on Sunday in support of his film Rebirth of a Nation. Spooky will personally introduce his remix of D.W. Griffith's super-racist epic Birth of a Nation (a film which was based on a super-racist book—Thomas Dixon's The Clansman—which tells the story of the "heroic" rise of the KKK).

Spooky's remix seriously undermines the original purpose of Griffith's movie, as you could imagine. The Alamo describes this event as part multimedia installation, part movie, and part concert, so get ready to have your boundaries busted. (PS: Did you know that Spooky has a side job as a professor at the European Graduate School? We didn't, until now. Smarty pants alert!)
