New Release Tuesday: Dan Auerbach Keeps It Hid

auerbach-keep-it-hid_0.jpg Dan Auerbach Keep It Hid (Nonesuch)

Auerbach spends the majority of his time as one half of the gritty Ohio-based duo the Black Keys, but now that he's built his own studio--Akron Analog--he's indulged himself in a solo record full of low-down soul, neo-psychedelia and heartfelt Nashvillian country. "Trouble Weights a Ton" (mov) is a campfire singalong of the heaviest sort, gently mourning the loss of innocence while serenading a family stricken with life's painful realities. It's not all gloom and doom though--"I Want Some More" will please White Denim fans, as its lustful darkness creeps around and takes root. Auerbach will be in Austin for SXSW, check back here at Austinist for more details.
