Fashion Freakout, Birds Barbershop's 'BFF' Ladies Night Both Tonight
Last year's first-ever Fashion Freakout, held at the now-defunct United States Art Authority, was so successful that we couldn't even find parking in the area. Tonight marks the second installment, and promises to be even bigger and bolder as the event organizers—Prototype Vintage Design, New Bohemia, Buffalo Exchange, and 'Laced With Romance'—have taken the catwalk collaboration to The Mohawk. A giant runway show, featuring vintage-influenced clothing and accessories for both sexes, will be interspersed with DJ sets by Tweedy, McNeely, and Bigface, plus a special performance by Hacienda. The show starts at 9 p.m, but we recommend getting there when doors open at 8 p.m., as this one will sell out. The Mohawk, 8 p.m. - 2 a.m., $8 for 21+, $10 if under
Across town, Birds Barbershop is kicking off its "BFF Referral Program" with a special Ladies Night at their Burnet Road location. From 6 to 9 p.m., they've enlisted drag queen extraordinaire Rebecca Havermeyer to host "boy band karaoke," while offering free chair massages by Massage Harmony, free nail adornment by Embellish, sweet treats from Sugartooth Bakery, and boozy delights courtesy 42 Below Vodka. Plus, the first 50 guests score swag bags stuffed with "goodies galore." Details at birdsbarbershop.com. Birds Barbershop @ Burnet Road, 6-9 p.m., Free
