Up in the Sky, Down on the Ground [News Bits]

I'm less than impressed with all these appointees turning up with tax problems. The latest is Nancy Killefer. I'm beginning to suspect that tax evasion in the top tiers of society is not so much an exception as it is standard operating procedure. These jerks write the tax laws, they preach to us the importance of paying our "fair share". They have no trouble putting together massive spending bills, spending OUR MONEY. They seem to forget that they'd have a hell of a lot harder time getting their paws on that money if we were all as "forgetful" and prone to "honest mistakes" as these guys. I don't buy it. If I don't pay my taxes, I'm getting harassed by the IRS, threatening to apply interest, for amounts as small as $50. It really is just a big slap in the face. Maybe I'm more ticked off than usual about it because I just finished filling in my tax forms.
