As planned, Austin Flash Mob's latest caper took place this past Saturday at Whole Foods Market downtown, with some 200 agents simultaneously 'freezing' near the prepared foods section.
The hidden camera clip, shown above, was shot by tinglemation. Another clip by Indiana Adams is reposted after the jump.

Cuz Whole Foods needs anymore people standing around looking like lost tourists.
Agreed, it wasn't the best choice. I work at Whole Foods, and I've noticed people don't usually move very fast in the store. They tend to stand, shuffle, wander, and mill around - especially in the prepared foods area - which is why some people didn't even notice the event.
The original FlashMob freeze at Grand Central Station was powerful because of the contrast between the FlashMob agents standing perfectly still in a large space, and everyone else rushing past them. People standing still while other squeeze by at a snail's pace? Not so much.
Perhaps there's some artistic merit to the flash-mob fad that I'm missing. To me, it's frustrating that people are willing to coordinate and organize over something that doesn't mean ANYTHING, but if you try to get them to organize over something IMPORTANT, they're nowhere to be found (i.e. 2004 presidential election, 2000 light rail vote, etc.).
Seth
i totally woulda yoinked a hat or some shades had i been there
Boo Whole Foods for their Nazi anti-camera rules.
Yay Flashmob for poking fun at Whole Foods shoppers.
I've never seen so many trying to be so cool. I'll admit, when it was done the first time it was original and very interesting. This was just a good exercise in how to annoy people imo. I'm quite sure the only people clapping were the participants.
It was just for fun. You'll get over it.
