Austinist Show Preview: Terp 2 it @ Room 710

Terp 2 it isn’t your average everyday musical entity. With a name like that, would you expect any less? It’s the brainchild of Austin’s glorious mustache-toting, bling'd-up wrestling belt-sporting, rapper/comedian Chris Trew. You might remember him from his set at this year’s Fun Fun Fun Fest or from ColdTowne Theater, which he co-founded. He’s been talked up around town for his improv comedy skills by The Onion A.V. Club, the Chronicle and even us. He’s played comedy festivals, opened for acts like MC Chris and headlined the Michael Showalter/Michael Ian Black after party. So, delivering hip hop humor with an arsenal of sound effects, beats and lyrics about MySpace and just kickin’ it with chicks at Room 710 Wednesday should be no problem at all.

Rounding out the lineup of Austin white boy jokey hip hop is Damp Heat. He’ll be coming at you with tunes that begin with Heat talking about his rectum, quickly turning into a rhyme of Colin Powell and C. Thomas Howell. Then, there are The Triggermen - Hysteria 51, DJ Yosamite, Jennessy - who openly discuss stalking, drug binges and sexual mishaps. Opening the show is One Step Program.
