The latest local business to succumb to the general economic malaise is Slate Men's Apparel, the Central Austin counterpart to next-door women's boutique Soigne.
Slate today announced that it will be shuttering its doors at the end of February. All remaining merchandise has already been marked down by 50-70% — even the store fixtures, furniture, and mannequins are being sold.
Soigne will remain open.
