UT Suspends Garrido For Four Games After Drunk-Driving Arrest

University of Texas baseball coach Augie Garrido will miss the first four games of the season on suspension after his arrest last week on drunk-driving charges.

Garrido and UT athletic director DeLoss Dodds appeared at a press conference today to announce the terms of the suspension. No other details were provided, and Garrido did not take questions, citing his pending legal case.

According to police reports, Garrido was driving a Porsche Cayenne westbound on Sixth Street when he was pulled over around 1 am Saturday after an officer noticed the headlights were not on. After a field sobriety test, police say Garrido told the officer he had drunk five glasses of wine and was intoxicated.

Garrido, 69, is the winningest coach in college baseball history. He's in his 13th season with the Longhorns.
