Preview: Aasim Holiday Party @ Red 7 featuring ...Trail of Dead & more

Every year, come December, we face a barrage of office holiday parties and family get-togethers, and then there’s this. Local photographer Aasim Syed has turned an evening at Red 7 into a veritable festival with this Saturday’s appropriately named “Aasim Holiday Party.” The outside stage will feature sets by ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, the legendary (to us) Glorium (performing Close Your Eyes to mark the ten year anniversary of the album’s release), and Those Peabodys, while the spacious inside area will be entertained by Ume, The Black, and Diagonals. DJ sets by Fuckin’ A and Ramesh Srivastava (Voxtrot) to keep everyone warm and busy during the set changes are also a part of this stellar line-up.

…Trail of Dead recently released the Festival Thyme EP; tonight’s performance will be unique since only the three founding members Conrad Keely, Jason Reece, and Kevin Allen will up on stage to deliver the classics contained in the band’s vast catalog. We caught up with Keely and Allen during Fun Fest 2008 -- watch our interview after the jump, and head down to Red 7 on Saturday to celebrate the holiday season.

I am really looking forward to TOD on Saturday. It'll be great to see them without all those people on stage... stripped down to the essentials. Like taking a Honda Goldwing, removing the fairing, the side bags, and all that cruft until you have the seat, gas tank, engine, handle bars, and two wheels. That's a 1200cc engine without unnecessary weight-- Now we're talking about performance!
