Preview: Til We’re Blue Or Destroy & The Uglysuit @ The Mohawk
Local indie-rock collective Til We’re Blue Or Destroy has kept us waiting for new studio recordings for a while now, but everyone can enjoy the smorgasbord of sounds this talented, multi-instrumental troupe conjures up in concert tonight at The Mohawk. After spending the last few years perfecting its pleasing melodies, consistently satisfying fans all across Red River St., and withstanding a line-up change or two, TWBOD truly jumped onto Austin’s radar this year with a rousing set at Fun Fun Fun Fest. Come on down to the show this evening and wish ringleader Will Rhodes a happy birthday! The Uglysuit, fresh off a Daytrotter Session last month, joins the party tonight with its own brand of sparkling pop. The band released its self-titled debut full-length this past August -- purchase it here.
The Oklahoma band’s ideals seem aligned with its music -- per The Uglysuit MySpace page -- “The Uglysuit’s music is an extended love song to the notion that everything is possible, yet nothing is guaranteed. It’s born of excitement and energy and built on potential and promise. It’s based on the premise that change exists in everything, and where a wide-eyed view of the world doesn’t equal naiveté. It reminds us that we are alive, and that maybe it’s not too late.” The Uglysuit’s euphonic compositions are exquisitely constructed soundscapes that can’t help but make one feel all warm and fuzzy inside, and could very well be the perfect antidote to your weekday malaise.
