Tonight at the Salvage Vanguard, the Church of the Friendly Ghost is hosting Eugene Chadbourne, an artist whose thirty-plus years of making music have swooped across blues, jazz, rock, and especially jazz. Allmusic.com calls him "one of the underground community's most well-known and well-regarded eccentrics," and now you have the chance to find out the truth for yourself. For a little more backstory, Chadbourne began making music in the late '70s and frequently collaborated with John Zorn, played with rockabilly revisionism with his 80s group Shockabilly, and released the album Camper Van Chadbourne in 1987 with members of Camper Van Beethoven.

Tonight's performance will take place in two parts: first, a solo set, and then a duo with Texan Ernie Durawa on percussion. Durawa may not have the discography Chadbourne does (who releases ten albums in one year?) but has played with everyone from Doug Sahm to John Lee Hooker and even Tiny Tim.

This performance promises to be one of the biggest the Church has put on this year, and, as always, they're looking for a few good volunteers. For more information as to how you can help the Church with this show and others, please email head Ghost Aaron Mace. And for those of you who want to but can't make this show, take heart - Chadbourne will return for a second performance on the 16th.
