Feel that Electric Touch (tonight at Stubbs)

Electric Touch are keeping a steady foothold in Austin’s live music scene. Nowadays their resume boasts gigs at Coachella, Bonnaroo, SXSW and ACL, but their origins are humble and diverse. The magic started happening when Shane Lawlor, a British yuppy from Nottingham, England, moved to Texas for a girl (ahh, romantic gestures). The gutsy move worked in his favor after instantly clicking with guitarist Christopher Messina and his twin brother/drummer Louis. After bassist Ross Dubois joined the roundup, a new romance was formed. Yes, we’re talking about a musical romance of Lawlor’s tear jerking lyrics folded around the band’s robust retro rock. So if you’re in the mood for an uplifting jam session, head to Stubb's tonight. Cynics, be sure to remember those rose-colored glasses.

Each track on their namesake debut album has its own specialty, but the classic-rocky jive,“Love in our Hearts,” will probably be the supreme sonata of this show. Another cheery anthem, “Give me a Sign” drives home the monochromatic yet meaningful tone that personifies Electric Touch. Slightly reminiscent of The Bravery or Motion City Soundtrack, these sexy saps have a raw talent that beams during live performances.

A cousin of retro rock, Black Tie Dynasty, will ravish the stage with an electrifying pulse and knee slapping savvy. Their sincere lyrics and catchy chimes leave something to the imagination. A.U.X. will also join the platform with a post punk elixir. There will definitely be plenty of excuses to dance tonight for this well-rounded group of budding performers. And you can’t use the cold or the economy as an excuse—it’s only $8 and it’s indoors.
