Ice Cube, or O’Shea Jackson, was a key player in gangsta rap’s rise to prominence, founding N.W.A. with Dr. Dre and Eazy-E in the '80s. After two controversial albums with N.W.A., Cube left the group, and in 1990, he released AmeriKKKa’s Most Wanted, the first of many solo efforts. Infamous for his blunt commentary on the issues facing African-Americans, Cube’s contributions to the hip hop and rap are many: he created Lench Mob Records in 1994, and worked with the likes of Da Lench Mob and Westside Connection, and also the late Tupac Shakur, among others.
Cube has showcased his versatility throughout his multi-faceted career, making his acting debut in John Singleton’s epic saga Boyz n the Hood. He continued to work in film following that acclaimed performance as Darin “Doughboy” Baker, going on to write the screenplay for the instant classic that was 1995’s Friday and starring in the highly successful motion picture (as the memorable Craig Jones) alongside Chris Tucker. Roles in many movies, including Dangerous Ground and Barbershop, have followed since. Cube has also revitalized his musical career of late with 2006’s Laugh Now, Cry Later and his latest album released this past August, Raw Footage.

Can you. Believe. This is. Happening.
I do love ice cube and I do understand a large portion of the hip hop community could be considered homophobic, however supporting an artist like Trick Trick is insulting to many of Mohawks and the Austinist patrons and readers.
