Steve Austin founded Today Is the Day back in 1992 in Nashville, quickly getting a good reputation in the metal/hardcore underground for the debut, How to Win Friends and Influence People. The third effort, Willpower, is commonly considered a groundbreaking hardcore record, which at the time energized a then-struggling Amphetamine Reptile Records. Until Austin re-released it on his label recently, it was unavailable - copies went for $60 on Ebay.

Known for constantly rotating personnel and being fiercely protective of his music and its distribution, Austin has been through dozens of incarnations of the band, and has spent oodles of time working in his studio, Super Nova. It was there that this year's Axis of Eden was conceived and recorded. The current lineup includes Mike Rosswog on drums and John Judkins playing bass. Tonight at Red 7, fans of Austin -- new and old -- will be treated to rowdy moshpits, squealing guitars and some good old-fashioned hardcore with a distinctly metal influence. They'll be supported by Zoroaster, Iron Age, Lions of Tsavo, and Earth Eater.
