Snapshots: StrataTX "Second on Sixth" Anniversary Party

Hundreds of Austinites came out to celebrate the second birthday of local arts nonprofit strataTX at este last Wednesday.

Dubbed "Second on Sixth," the anniversary fête featured: a set by local musician John Pointer; hip-hop moves by the Bboy City Dancers; video installations curated by AMODA; a performance by improv troupe Paralellogramophonograph; and live graffiti art by Sloke, aka Austinite Nathan Nordstrom.

As a giving group of the Texas Cultural Trust, strataTX exists to bring together "young professionals"—really just a distinction from the silver-haired philanthropists that the TCT otherwise serves—of all industries and backgrounds to support the creative community through networking opportunities and diverse cultural events. Austinist had the pleasure of serving on the steering committee during its first two years of existence, and it's nice to see that the group has grown to encompass such varied disciplines. Annual membership to strataTX is $125 per person, or $100 when registering as a group; $25 of each membership goes to Create Texas, a statewide effort to promote education and economic development programs geared toward the arts.

Second on Sixth was sponsored by Constructive Ventures, Fish & Richardson, Brown Distributing, Tito’s Vodka, Spicewood Vineyards, and Ciao Chow Catering.
