On Friday night, the uncompromisingly talented Foot Patrol celebrate the release of their CD at the Continental Club with Pong. If you haven't been to see them yet, we highly recommend attending this special evening. We were lucky to have FP play at our recent Local Music Is Sexy party at the Mohawk, and they tore it up, implementing a horn section that really took the whole thing to a new level. Tomorrow night's show shouldn't be missed.
We're also excited for November 28, when The Summer Wardrobe and The Service Industry will both officially release their new CDs. Keep the Babies Warm, the Service Industry's upcoming, promises to deliver more of the chugging power pop (or "Bolshevik Psychedelia" as they like to call it) audiences have grown to love since their Feb. 2008 release, Limited Coverage. The Summer Wardrobe's new album is called Cajun Prairie Fire, and will undoubtedly offer more psych pop and dark folk tinges. While the album is looking to be a winner, we're almost more excited to see them play: they just finished a short tour as Roky Erickson's backing band, and we're betting they're pretty tight.
Follow the jump for more local news.
Johnny Goudie is also due to release a new album, this time in collaboration with Jonas Wilson (Lomita), Lars Goransson (Fastball, Endochine, Alpha Rev, What Made Milwaukee Famous, etc), and Howie Weinberg (Ramones, more), to name just a handful. It's called El Payaso, and it's not due until February of '09, but Austinist will be bringing you exclusives on it well before then. No shows on the books right now, but we'll keep you posted -- we're anxious to hear these new tunes, since we've been talking about it since July 2007.
The Sword are also prepping a new CD set on Nov. 25, right before kicking off a tour with Metallica. The album is a limited edition CD set that includes both Age Of Winters and Gods Of The Earth (reserve yours here). They're playing tonight in Houston and won't be back until January, but we'll keep you posted on added dates here in ATX.The Sword "How Heavy This Axe" (mp3)
We're also pleased to report that local indie-pop outfit Hollywood Gossip are going to release their debut EP on December 2. Their release party will be on December 5 at Club Deville with Built by Snow.
Black Nasty doesn't have a new album, but there's a new song on his MySpace, "Oreo." We have a feeling we already know what it's about.

Get to that Foot Patrol show early to see Churchwood , a new band featuring members of Cat Scientist, Brown Whornet, the Crack Pipes, Invincible Czars and LeRoi Brothers! No shit!
