Dremnt The End first showcased at SXSW in 2005, and in 2007, they finished in the Top 20 in The Dell Lounge pre-ACL Fest contest, The Sound and The Jury. The band’s huge sound, produced and polished to perfection, should translate into a scintillating live show, and we want you there! Enter the form (further) below for a chance to win two tickets to their concert at La Zona Rosa this Friday.

We caught up with Marcus Federman from the band earlier this week to learn more about Dremnt The End.

When did you guys get together to form Dremnt The End? Are all of you from Austin?

Marcus Federman: We formed in March of '04. Harrell Williams (drums) and Ryan Holley (lead guitar) are from Austin; Marcus Federman (vox/guitar), Stuart Rasso (bass), and Jon Dishon (keys) are originally from Houston.

What was the inspiration behind the name of the band?

The name is what you make of it -- universally themed like our music and lyrics. And yes, we spell it wrong. Ha.

What is the current discography? When did you guys start working with Will Hoffman?

We released an EP entitled Imagineering in March of '05 (self produced), a self-titled 3 song EP (produced by Will Hoffman), and a self-titled 12 song LP in Nov of '07 (produced by Will Hoffman). We started working with Will Hoffman in June of '05. We met at the (Old) Pecan Street Festival -- he approached us and asked if he could come to our rehearsal room to do some pre pro. Shortly after, we were at Wired Recording starting on our full-length album. We recorded the album at Wired, Cephas, and Sonic Ranch in El Paso.

The interview continues after the jump!

What are the band members' inspirations and influences?

We have a very wide range of influences. The Killers, Weezer, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Cure, Muse, Tupac Shakur, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Journey, Deftones, Radiohead, Johnny Cash, and everything else under the Sun. Basically anything that moves us. I am very much into everything. Our bass player is in to heavy music. Our lead guitar player is into Jeff Buckley, Eagles, and classic rock, and our key player is into goth/industrial. Other than music...life, women, good times, good people, fashion, and whatever moves us daily.

Who writes the songs and who comes up with all those riffs? What is the process in the recording studio for the band?

We all write the songs together. Usually a riff or song skeleton is written and brought to practice and we all mold it into something that will move people. In the studio, we usually start with drums first then bass, guitars, keys and vocals. We are very efficient in the studio. We recently tracked a new song from the next album called "Morning Light" with Matt Novesky from Blue October producing at Music Lane. The song is on our MySpace. We tracked and mixed the song in 2 days.

What do you like about Austin?

We love Austin -- it's home. The weather, the music, the people, it's all great. We love our fans here in Austin -- they are the best we could ever ask for. They have been coming to see us almost every month now for 4 years. We like the fact that there are so many music supporters and also so many clubs to play at. The variety is fun -- we play The Parish, then Stubb's, then La Zona Rosa, then The Backyard, it never gets old.
