Which do you have more fun with, your hip hop songs or your more folk-country stuff?
That is like asking, "which do you enjoy more, pizza or ice cream?"
Which do you think you are better at?
I don't think it is really a question of better or worse. I do both as well as I can. I hope that as I continue I will always strive to get better and better. That is the kind of "better" that matters most to me. Time release... better.
What's your favorite sample you've used?
I used a lot of fireworks on Fair Ain't Fair, and there is one that I stretched real long and let die under the music. I'll be damned if it doesn't sound like death in a carpenter's belt.
Do you ever have problems deciding when to stop adding samples and instruments and say a song is finished?
No. I always know when enough is enough. But, I do have a tendency to spend too much time countersinking screw heads and blind man bluffing miter joints.
Do you think New York is still an inspiring place for making music?
I think inspiration is not really real. Hard work is hard work is hard work. New York is a good place to work hard.
What do you think is the most important social issue tackled in some of your songs?
Sadness.
What are some other Fun Fun Fun Fest bands you are excited about seeing?
Bad Brains. Pepi Ginsberg. Kool Keith.
