A couple of weeks ago, we let you in on the news that ColdTowne Theater is running Improv CageMatch from now until the end of time 2008. But they didn't stop there. In addition to a reliable onslaught of comic-on-comic violence, you can also look forward to an hour of mirth and mockery, Saturdays at 8pm (an hour before CageMatch). Yes, Stool Pigeon is also running in perpetuity. In the show, a guest monologist takes the spotlight, regales the audience with a brief tale about a meaningful moment in their life, then steps aside to watch while the good people of ColdTowne* twist their stories into improv hilarity. [This author has been a Stool Pigeon and is to this day proud to say she made Michael Jastroch laugh so hard he cried. -Ed.]

The upcoming pigeons are some rather exotic birds, so we thought we'd give you the rundown:

  • This Saturday, our own Joshua Huck stands up! You know Josh is tall, handsome, and talented, right? We have no doubt he'll provide ample fodder for the professionals at ColdTowne to wrench and warp.

  • Next week, 10/25, none other than Miles Zuniga, lead singer of Fastball, graces the stage. Believe it! Perhaps he'll reveal some scoop about the band's upcoming album release.

  • To cap it all off, on 11/1, as a part of ColdTowne's 2-year anniversary weekend ("730 Days Of Free Parking, Live Comedy, and Shameless Self Promotion"), the theater welcomes Austin Chronicle editor Louis Black, backed by a cast drawn from every ColdTowne troupe.

Plan your CageMatch nights accordingly, and show up an hour early to check out the madness that is Stool Pigeon.
