Maker Faire Preview: Meet Your Makers

Still confused as to exactly what Maker Faire is? The two-day, family friendly, celebration of all things DIY is a little hard to describe to those who haven't experienced it. Sure, there are going to be robots, catapults, rockets, bicycles, homemade foods, bands, crafts, and science experiments. But there's also going to be a working life size version of Mouse Trap, musical Tesla coils, and a Diet Coke and Mentos fountain. The Maker Faire team is going to be around town to preview the event for those prospective attendees who are still a little flummoxed.

The Maker Faire Preview is taking place at Fry's Electronics (12707 N. Mopac) this Saturday, October 11th from 9am-4pm.
Food Makers from the event will be at Whole Foods (525 N. Lamar) on Thursday, October 16th from 5-8pm.

Stop by at either location to ask questions, say hello, or show off your own projects.

Maker Faire, a celebration of all things do-it-yourself, is taking place in Austin on Saturday, October 18th and Sunday, October 19th at the Travis County Expo Center. Discount tickets are available now through the 17th at the Austin Children's Museum and at Whole Foods on Lamar.

This was a lot of fun last year. If you're on the fence about going, go.

MF is TOTALLY awesome with a ton of stuff to do. Music, fun, events to get involved with, crafts, green market. Definitely is worth attending for just about anyone. I am so geeked I can't wait. PS. OU Sucks.

Makers Faire is amazing. Everyone interested in science or making your own stuff should go.

Seth
