Wow, we sure have been through a lot, haven't we Cat Power? We were desperate to see your always-impressively-unpredictable behavior way back in April, but then you came down with those vocal chord issues. And since, beyond your interminable gorgeousness and general entertainment value, that wondrous voice of yours is the reason we like to catch your shows, the cancellation of that show was quite the sincere disappointment. But, alas, we were forced to say "Hope you feel better," and wait our little heads off for you to reschedule. And, thankfully, that's what you've done, and we—God willing—will be able to see you under the bright and beautiful lights of Stubb's this Saturday night, and in tolerably-temperate October, no less.

As a kindly reminder of the revealing capabilities of Cat Power tour de force Chan Marshall, here's a brief insight into what you may rightfully expect when you go to see her (our favorite new-soul sister) this Saturday: last time the timeless (and timelessly eccentric) singer was in town, Marshall and her fabulous pipes enlightened the audience that she is on steroids...and that she was born deaf...and that she wants to shoot her monitors...and that she likes to apologize to the crowd...and that steroids make you angry (and that's why they make you stronger)...and et cetera et cetera et cetera. And that, seriously, is just a tiny glimpse into her endless sea of potential utterances. Pretty much, she's a spectacularly unpredictable bounty of non-sequiturs and stunning vocal musicianship.

And, if that's not enough to convince you, sweetening the pot by opening up for Cat Power will be the respected folkies, Appaloosa. So there. Do what you must. You know you can't not.
