Our focus is on the Saturday night show featuring The Rumble Strips from England and San Francisco’s Birdmonster. First up this evening, you can enjoy Birdmonster’s melodious ditties that fluctuate from introspective folk to chirpy pop. Purveyors of the DIY ethic, the quartet dropped their self-produced, self-titled debut EP in 2004 and utilized the earnings to garner the assistance of Bradley Cook to engineer their first full-length in 2006. No Midnight was also self-released initially; SpinART Records picked up the album eventually, re-releasing it in August 2006. In 2008, Birdmonster signed with FADERLABEL, serenaded at The FADER FORT during SXSW, and released From The Mountain To The Sea (digitally in August and physically in September).
The Rumble Strips headline with soul infused pop off their 2007 debut Girls And Weather; the stirring blasts of saxophone and trumpet, the adequate piano accompaniments, and the abundant energy that marks their bouncy tunes should make for a sparkling live show. A horn-tastic rendition of Thin Lizzy’s “The Boys Are Back In Town” could well be included. Check it all out on us -- enter below for a chance to win two tickets to this concert:
