It is said that there is one being out there in this grand universe that is the perfect compliment to our person; a "twin flame" of sorts, and only when we meet shall our fires burn the brightest. Well, we think we have found our soul mate and its name is the 6th Annual Austin Film Festival Film & Food Party. We're serious. Basically, if we were reincarnated, we think we would come back as the AFF Film & Food Party, because this event brings together what really defines who we are at our core: people who live to eat delicious food, and people who love to watch flickering lights on cinema screens. Truly, that is pretty much all we need to survive. The great news is that since the AFF F&F Party, which will be shaking up the Driskill Hotel on Wednesday, October 15 at 7pm, is really just a concept as opposed to a physical being, you can also share in the joys of its bountiful awesomeness. We'll try to conceal our jealousy.

If you think that the Film & Food Party is all about debaucherous fun, you'd be wrong— our soul mate also has a heart of gold. Proceeds from the evening's ticket sales and silent auction benefit the Young Filmmaker's Program, which gives young people in the Austin area a super-cool sounding board for their cinematic leanings, whether they be in the area of screenwriting, directing, acting or production. If you believe that the children are the future (of filmmaking), and you want to nosh on some tasty business, then this is definitely the party for you. Just check out some of the local restaurants that will be givin' you the goods Wednesday night: The Driskill Grill, Eddie V's, Primizie Osteria, Ranch 616, Roaring Fork, Ruth's Chris Steak House, Lambert's, Parkside, Starlite, Moonshine, Teo, ROSCAR Handcrafted Chocolates, and Polkadots Cupcake Factory, just to name a few. Next stop: Salivation Central!

We realize that the economy is in the crapper and that it is tough to justify spending any amount of money on hedonistic activities, such as eating really, really, ridiculous tasty food, but the good people over at AFF have gone against the grain of inflation and have not increased the price of admission from last year, so it will only set you back $85, or if you are an AFF member or Festival badge holder, $70, to attend. Total score, in our estimation.
