Texas GOP Newly Motivated by Palin VP Pick

If there's a take-away from the current election season, it's that Texans love rooting for the underdog.

In this case, make it the lipsticked underdog.

While the rest of the country has started scratching its collective head over the selection of Alaskan governor Sarah Palin as the Republican Vice Presidential candidate, Texas conservatives seem to have embraced the Little Small Town Mom Who Could as one of their own.

If anything, the rabid fervor sparked by her initial appointment has intensified throughout the state, with calls to county Republican offices tripling and McCain-Palin yard signs "walking out the door."

After tonight's debate, Gov. Palin will head to Dallas and San Antonio for back-to-back private fundraisers. Both events, admission to which starts at $1,000 and can run up to $57,000, are already sold out.

"The response has simply been overwhelming," said James Huffines, state co-chairman of McCain's campaign, to the Statesman. "It has been many years since I personally have seen this type of excitement and response to a political fundraiser in Texas."

Sarah Palin is Dick Cheney in lipstick and high heels. (He wishes.)

Sarah Palin is the daughter Dick Cheney always wished he had to fondle.

Sarah Palin is as empty as toxic plastic toys shipped from China.

    I could go on.

I was disappointed that the abortion issue didn't come up during the VP debate. I'm not sure many people realize exactly how anti-choice she is.

Still, all the whining about Gwen Ifill's supposed conflict of interest should be put to rest now. A very evenly conducted debate.

She is not pro-choice. She believes that even a daughter raped by her father should have to have the baby (see her recent interview). She is no-choice and a Bible thumper.

Wow, good for them! Maybe with this kind of support, Texas will finally vote Republican this election! Oh wait...

  • davetx

    Pro-choice, eh?

She's pro-choice and evangelical. Of course she'd energize Texas Republicans. The majority have no platform. Just a check-list for their politicians beliefs. They don't want any particular legislation passed, they just want to have faith that God is leading their official.
