While Wayne Coyne and Brad Beesley's sci-fi feature film Christmas On Mars finally rolls out in limited theatrical engagements across the country, Coyne himself will bring the much-anticipated flick to the Alamo for three screenings on Saturday, October 11th (in glorious 35mm, no less).

This seven-years-in-the-making project stars members of the Flaming Lips, as well as Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse, and comedians Fred Armisen and Adam Goldberg. The film follows a group of astronaut colonists as they prepare for Christmas on the red planet. But things get out of hand when an oxygen generator malfunctions, and a strange alien being (Coyne) arrives on the scene.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the project, Christmas is Coyne's Chinese Democracy, in that most people assumed it would never actually be released. Though shooting began in 2001, it has taken a really long time to get this baby in the can. In fact, if you look really closely you can probably see the actors age from scene to scene. Photographed by ex-Austinite Brad Beesley (who has done a lot of work with The Lips), Christmas was slated to open at SXSW this year, but for some reason didn't.

This is sure to be a fun show. And it's sure to fill up quickly, so we'd recommend getting tickets soon.
