Gnarls Barkley Get Crazy at ACL

Tantalizing beats radiated from the AT&T stage Sunday evening as the popular, two-man group Gnarls Barkley stepped up to the challenge of pleasing a large festival crowd. The high-pitched raspiness of Cee-Lo's voice was felt throughout some of the pair's most popular hits, "Crazy" and "Gone Daddy Gone." While these hits usually pump up crowded bars and dance parties, they were more like mellow background music to listeners without an eagle-eye view of the stage. A band known for their funky rhythms full of experimental trinkets, Gnarls Barkley would be better suited for a club concert. The vocals of Cee-Lo were sometimes indistinguishable, but his stage presence was still entertaining. Shakin' what his momma gave him, Cee-Lo managed to maintain excitement. With a spiciness all their own, the boys supplied easily listening to those who stuck out the festival to the bitter end. –Candace Birkelbach
