ACL After Show Snapshots: Black Keys & Black Angels @ Stubb's

Akron, Ohio's Black Keys thrilled yet another crowd Sunday night at Stubb's with their rocking brand of blues. The much-acclaimed duo of guitarist and singer Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney kept the energy high with a dazzling array of older and newer tunes, showing again why they're one of the most steadily satisfying acts making music today. While their most recent album, Attack & Release, captured an army of new fans by enlisting feted producer Danger Mouse, the new songs held together well without his cosmic touches—it is almost as if you could throw the duo into any environment and they'd be able to bring it down. Opening up were Austin's own The Black Angels, and their enlistment of the legendary psych-rocker Roky Erickson for a few songs made this a night to remember.
