I hear you. But it was posted by someone who witnessed the assault who didn't even know the victim. I know people may make up random crap, but it just seemed to be the post of a concerned citizen.

I'm sorry to keep beating this dead horse but one last thought: What if, God forbid, the craigslist poster was assaulted but had the wrong make, model and/or license plate number? Many compact, white, 4 door cars look alike and I don't know about you but I'd be hard pressed to accurately record a license plate number in the heat of the moment.

Well, if APD would investigate it, maybe we could get an answer to that Wes. Unfortuantely, there does need to be some level of trust/faith in people once in a while. Maybe you're just saying it was irresponsible because it was you that did it? I'm kidding of course, but you see my point.

It is irresponsible of Austinist to publish the car make, model and license plate number based on nothing more than a craigslist post. For all we know the author of the craigslist post could simply have a grudge against the guy who owns the Cavalier.

The APD generally will not look into charges of assault that occur on the road. This is not new - and even if you have a license plate number, the response is generally nothing.

I saw something like this happen about a year ago on Riverside near Congress. I wanted to chase the jerk down, but was stuck in traffic. The guy swerved badly on his bike but didn't fall and appeared to be ok, but still asshat!

I'm going to venture this was the act of high school kids unless someone has evidence otherwise. I find it hard to believe that the APD would not look into an assault charge, especially when they've been given a license plate number.
