Tokyo Police Club had a wise idea. They stuck the name of their band into the chorus of one of their catchiest songs. So, after hearing it, their name is imprinted in the minds of listeners within a hook, and that makes the band name nigh unforgettable.

The Ontario-based, roughed-up indie rock four-piece will give all of Austin a chance to walk around with the band’s name in the form of a ditty rattling around in their brains. They’re bringing their raucous rock sound that’s just a little dirty and a little clean to Emo’s Outside Friday night. Keyboards and melodies and reigning chords make songs like “Tessellate” shine. Then, on numbers like “Nature of the Experiment”, the boys gritty things up a bit with fuzzy and sharp guitars as well as with slightly raw vocals.

TPC experienced a burst of popularity around the time of South by Southwest 2007 with only the strength of their EP, A Lesson in Crime, behind them. One of the perks of such a burst is a rise in the caliber of their opening acts. The Whigs, a rough and infectious rock band from Athens, will set the stage for TPC along with local curious and fun-loving experimental rock and rollers, The Boxing Lesson.
