Mogwai, of course, are gearing up for the release of The Hawk Is Howling, a return to form for a band that has for more than ten years dazzled audiences with angst-wrapped-in-pensiveness art-metal. Hawk is an intriguing release, as songs with titles such as "I'm Jim Morrison, I'm Dead" reestablish their credibility as a band worthy of worldwide recognition. And Fuck Buttons, from the United Kingdom, stunned their audience into a stupor when they opened for Caribou in April—doubtlessly, their approach to music is not for everyone, but for those brave enough to weather their blistering electronica, the rewards are magnificent.
Altogether, it's going to be one of the most rocking shows Austin has seen in quite some time, and it's one not to miss—after all, it's not too often that a pair of international acts cross the pond to wander through Stubb's. If you want to take a stab at some free tickets, fill in the contest entry form after the jump.
