It seems that the projected path for Hurricane Ike moved eastward overnight. Now instead of being smack in the middle of the path (as was projected yesterday), Austin appears to be on the farthest west edge of the path as Ike aims for Galveston. The hurricane is still expected to hit the Texas coast late Friday night and leave Austin residents with, at the least, a rainy weekend.
- Gov. Perry held a press conference today, saying that Texans should "(p)repare for the worst, and pray for the best."
- Various Twitter accounts have been set up to focus on Ike news/updates. As mentioned yesterday, the Statesman is posting to @trackingIke, but there is also @hurricaneike and the Houston Chronicle's @chronhurricane.
- Matagorda County has announced it will be bussing evacuees to Austin.
- The Statesman has put together a searchable database to find Ike cancellations and volunteer opportunities.
- If you think you need to stock up on emergency supplies, you're not the only one (prepare for crowds).
