Since the 1998-1999 school year, Austin-basedAnthropos has teamed up with low-income Austin schools to provide alternative educational experiences for kids. Professional musicians from the area act as instructors and mentors for the at-risk youth, providing them with a creative outlet while utilizing cultural diversity through music to help express themselves in ways never before imagined.

For 10 years now, Anthropos has provided free, in-school musical education to thousands of East Austin youths, and tomorrow they are celebrating that accomplishment with a celebration of alternative musical education, the youth of Austin and the great harmony they've created by combining the two. The Belmont will host the event, featuring Daily Juice's creative mixed drinks using fresh juice + spirits, and they're half-price or free to anyone donating more than $15 at the door, The Anthropos Musicians Collective (a Latin and Jazz student group) and headlined by Elote, a Latin supergoup featuring Michael Longoria, Roberto Riggio, Christian Fernandez and Angel Ibanez that actually teaches most of the Anthropos workshops.

Come out tonight to toast Anthropos and listen to the musicians, old and young, teachers and learners that have made the program successful for ten years straight.
