Craigslist Founder Speaking at UT
Craig Newmark's the fellow who invented Craigslist, the one-site-fits-all classifieds network that's probably responsible for helping you snag that adorable vintage chest or that even-more-adorable blonde barista that you made eye contact with but were too afraid to ask out in person... whatever the case may be, the city-specific websites have indelibly affected all of our lives in one way or another. Newmark will be here in early October (Wednesday, Oct 8, 5 p.m.) as the next speaker in the UT Austin "Frances Moody Newman Distinguished Lecture Series," which seeks to promote community service and volunteerism by bringing in philanthropic leaders to share their personal stories and experiences. Presented by the RGK Center for Philanthropy and Community Service, the free lecture is open to the public but requires an RSVP in advance. [Event Details and RSVP]
