After five days of fun, the Austin Gay and Lesbian International Film Festival comes to a close tonight with a screening of
Were the World Mine, Tom Gustafson's tale of youthful lust and small town homophobia. The film follows gay teen Timothy (Tanner Cohen) as he daydreams about hunky jocks (though "daydreaming" is putting it mildly--his fantasies are full-on musical theatre numbers). When given the chance to participate in a real life musical (the school production of "A Midsummers' Night Dream"), Timothy jumps at the chance to share the stage with a handsome rugby player he secretly loves.
After the screening, the fest will officially wrap up with a Closing Night Party at Arthouse (7th and Congress). There'll be food, vodka and much, much more. Admission is $10 and all are welcome.
If you're still in party mode after that, there's still some fun to be had at Oilcan Harry's, where the official aGLIFF afterparty runs from Midnight to question mark.
I just saw this movie, and I loved it. It makes you believe in love. :)
