If you missed the screening of Choke at SXSW earlier this year, you now have another last-minute chance to see it before it hits theaters.
Tonight, the Dobie will host a free 9:30pm screening of the film with writer/director Clark Greg in attendance to conduct a Q&A immediately following the screening. If you're interested in attending, send an RSVP to jprice@moroch.com, like, pronto. Pronto!
The film, adapted from a Chuck Palahniuk (Fight Club) novel of the same name, follows a sex-addicted con man who makes money by intentionally choking on things at restaurants. With a cast that includes Sam Rockwell and Anjelica Huston, Choke promises to be quite good. It is, after all, based on a Palahniuk novel.
Oh hey--speaking of Chuck Palahniuk, Our friends at BenBella Books have provided us with 5 copies of the new book You Do Not Talk About Fight Club: I Am Jack's Completely Unauthorized Essay Collection to give away. The book features a foreword by Chuck Palahniuk as well as essays from editor Read Mercer Schuchardt and many of the leading Pahlahniuk scholars. Read is the publisher of the highly acclaimed and award-winning film interpretation site Metaphilm.

Hi - I just heard from the folks putting this on that they can't take any more RSVPs because they've left to go set up. They got some from Austinist readers but if you sent an email and you recieved Jason's out of office reply, then you can still try your luck by getting there early and standing in the space available line. Good luck everyone and for those that won the book, it's really a fabulous collection of essays - we hope you like!
I should say for those that win the book, not won since the contest is still going on!
