Snapshot: Breaking Ground at Laura Bush Library

Supporters of Westbank Community Library gathered this past weekend to break ground on the new library to be named in honor of our current First Lady. When complete, "Laura's Library" will offer stunning views of the surrounding hill country, a fancy courtyard with stone seating carved to resemble books, and, most appropriately, a drive-up book window. More photos are available at the official website.

After the jump, we've reposted a quick clip showing a virtual "fly-through" of the proposed development.

It's appropriate that patrons of the Laura W. Bush Presidential Wife Library won't have to get out of their SUVs to check out/return books.

Which prompts an obvious question: What books do Republicans read?

awesome. It's already blighting some of the last views of the hillcountry. Plus it's bound to have some deep stacks of young earth creationist propaganda showing how the Anasazi hunted dinosaurs with the first domesticated saber-tooth tigers.

Libraries need drive throughs like diabetics need pixie sticks.
