Show Preview: The Donkeys at Mohawk

Austinist lurves local labels. One of our faves is new-ish addition Dead Oceans. Featuring such killer acts as Evangelicals, Dirty Projectors, and Bishop Allen, they've got the talent to make a huge dent in the rusty El Camino with two skanky scensters necking in the back seat that is the indie world, and are liable to do so. What's more, with sister labels Jagjaguwar and Secretly Canadian, they've been birthed from pedigreed loins. Ahem.

Tonight, their newest addition to the roster, San Diego, CA's The Donkeys will feature at the inimitable Mohawk. There's not as much braying as you might think. Moreover, these burro bros feature impeccable harmonies and guitar hooks that jangle over their tunes like Mardi Gras beads over firm bosoms. Not good enough? Sometimes jammy, sometimes indie-pop served straight-up like the previous simile, all of what we've heard so far is good to the last drop. Come out to the Mo' and support these Cali-kids and their fresh-faced label before they get all huge and important, chomping big blue cigars and what-not.

Show up at a reasonable time to catch two awesome local acts, including the bounding rock of Golden Bear, and the gritty shimmer of Visitors. Follow the jump for a chance to win tickets!
