seth, you little rebel, you! i had no idea you had it in you. high five!

on another note--

i scored two awesome, woven wool area rugs today from my neighbor's trash. wondering if they're infested or something-- i mean, they were in the trashcan, not set off to the side like thoughtful neighbors do with the good stuff. but there are no (visible) blood stains so i'm keeping them.

also, warren had a suggestion-- check books out of the library.

and he had another suggestion-- then sell them at half price books.

yay warren.

"Byob at other theaters should keep you clear of violating any laws."

Interesting philosophy. I like.

Clever move with using the oxygen tank to smuggle in the booze. Some friends of mine and I were watching Step Brothers the other day and a theater employee accused us of smuggling booze into the theater and flatly said he was throwing us out.

I told him that was a ridiculous assertion, even though the margaritas were in obvious view resting in each of our cup holders. I then told him if he was going to 'throw us out' that we wanted a refund on our collective $30 we spent on tickets and popcorn. He offered to retrieve a manager using an ominous tone. I looked him right in the eye and said politely, "Please bring your manager back."

No one else manifested throughout the rest of the movie. At that moment, I realized the threat of 'throwing us out' of the theater was completely toothless. Unlike a bar, theater employees aren't empowered to physically remove patrons from seats and drag them to the front door. At most, they can tell you to leave and then call the police if you don't comply. In such a scenario, the police would issue a trespassing warning and you'd be done with the whole affair. Since we weren't disturbing other patrons, bringing the police into the theater would have been highly disruptive to everyone's movie watching experience, so the best thing was to let us have our margaritas in peace.

Don't do this at the Alamo, however, because you'll actually be violating a TABC law regarding differently-taxed alcohol in a venue serving taxed alcohol. That could be a fine if you are caught by TABC. Byob at other theaters should keep you clear of violating any laws.

I also sell my used books via Amazon. They reimburse you for shipping but be sure to buy your supplies in bulk and ship at media rate to make this come out evenly.

Craig's List. Found a discarded (insert item here) from dumpster diving? Stick it on craig's list. I sold all the kid's clothes (and shoes and other accouterments) that don't fit anymore on Craig's List and it funded all the new year's duds and doohickeys. This is significantly easier than eBay and has the instant cash-in-pocket reward.

I stopped the HPB walk of shame and started selling my 'back stock' on Amazon. Easier than eBay and significantly more fundalicious than HPB.
