Austinist Show Preview: Household Names @ Jovita's

Household Names have delivered some mighty fine pop tunes via two stellar full-lengths and a 4-song EP since forming in Austin nearly a decade ago. KUT 90.5 FM’s Austin Music Minute highlighted the band in March during their SXSW 2008 edition, and beyond Austin, the Household Names have garnered much national attention over the years. Their 2002 debut record The Trouble With Being Nice reached #67 on CMJ’s Radio 200 Chart and was featured on Hewlett-Packard's Experience Music Project mobile tour in 2002. Household Names’ expert power-pop sensibility and their penchant for delivering catchy riffs and melodious hooks also grabbed the attention of MTV -- “Bright Spot” off the record was made available for download on MTV.com in the past.

More recently, “Only One” off 2006’s Picture In My Head made the television rounds, being utilized by CNBC’s American Made show and the ABC series What About Brian? Check out the video for “Only One” here. The band is currently recording a new EP; Lars Goransson, who co-produced all the previous Household Names’ efforts, will be assisting again.

Catch Household Names live tonight at Jovita’s and again on September 8th at the Beauty Bar.
