Preview & Giveaway: The Melvins, Big Business at Emo's

Waaaaayyyyyy back in the '90s, when men were men and flannel was flannel, the Melvins had the unfortunate distinction of being known mostly as "that band that's friend with Nirvana. With the drummer that used to be in Nirvana." Lucky for us, that drummer, Dale Crover, and his axe-wielding henchman Buzz Osbourne soldiered on through the the following decade, enduring the collapse of grunge, the rise of emo, and the indifference of pretty much everyone under 30.

Having arrived at the present day no worse for wear, the Melvins are bigger rock stars than ever, touring the world with a new rhythm section (the hectic drum-and-bass sludge-punk combo Big Business) and releasing the best records of their career. This year's Nude With Boots is every bit as sludgy and massive as classics like Bullhead or Houdini, and lots of people liked it--even people under 30--so if that sounds interesting go to Emo's tonight because that's where they're playing, with Big Business opening.
