Music News & Notes: Okkervil, KUT, Nike & More
- Once again, Daytrotter shows Austin some love with a session by Octopus Project. The band plays four songs, including our favorite, "Wet Gold." Don't miss their new (and stunning) video for "An Evening With Rthrtha", either.
- Preview Okkervil River's new album, The Stand Ins, at their MySpace, where you can listen to "Lost Coastlines." You can also watch a performance of the same songon Pitchfork, sans vocal accompaniment of Jonathan Meiburg.
- Nike + Human Race is coming to Austin. On August 31, the world’s largest one day running event will touch down here, and runners will meet at Guero’s Taco Bar on South Congress at 7 p.m. for three and five mile runs followed by food, drinks and a musical performance by Austin’s own Nathan Singleton.
- Semi-local band ...Trail of Dead have been added to the Sept. 21 ATP Festival in New York City, curated by My Bloody Valentine. The band is currently hunkered down in NYC putting the finishing touches on their as-yet untitled album, due in early '09 on Richter Scale Records/Justice Records.
- Matador band and Austin favorite Shearwater performed their latest album, Rook, in its entirety earlier this year at NYC's Florence Gould Hall. The performance was taped by Baeble Music and can be watched online in segments now, right here.
- RCRDLBL has a preview of the New Year record, as well as an interview with Bubba Kadane. We have an interview with Matt from earlier this year. Their new album is due Sept. 9.
