Austinist Show Giveaway: A Place To Bury Strangers @ Emo's on Sunday!

The last time we witnessed Brooklyn band A Place To Bury Strangers live in concert, they were one of the highlights on the inside stage at our Gonna Gonna Get Down day party this year during SXSW. The trio’s vociferous sets are chock-full of wall to wall guitar heavy soundscapes, complete with the requisite reverb, dizzying distortion, and tormenting textures. We’re still surprised that the walls of The Mohawk withstood their raucous assault that afternoon.

Upon listening to their stellar self-titled debut full-length, it should come as no surprise that band member Oliver Ackerman founded the appropriately titled Death By Audio, a company that produces effect pedals. The album boasts an impeccably noisy collection of atmospheric shoegaze psychedelia and you too can be annihilated this Sunday when the band headlines Emo’s (Inside) this Sunday. Follow the jump for a chance to win tickets to this show!

A double shot of local talent will get things going on Sunday evening. The Boxing Lesson, who plan to release a video for “Brighter” off their Wild Streaks & Windy Days record shortly, also found time during their recent tour to cover “White Rabbit” (Jefferson Airplane) for Indie Rock Reviews’ Bionic Ear Sessions in California. Ume has been recording new material (besides playing the occasional show around town), and has employed Chris “Frenchie” Smith at The Bubble to add the finishing touches to their upcoming record.
