Well, in the last week there have been not one but two arrests at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport for attempts to pass through security with a weapon. Though Texans sure love their handguns, the Transportation Safety Administration isn’t having it. On Tuesday, police arrested 46-year-old Robert Henry Seale III for attempting to carry a 9mm gun through a security checkpoint. The gun was found in his computer bag. Seale’s arrest comes just days after Gary Keith Morris (also 46) was charged with having a prohibited weapon in a weapons-free zone after x-rays found a loaded .357 and 21 live rounds of ammunition in a zipped pocket of his carry on.
We’re not sure what’s up with the middle-aged dudes trying to carry weapons on planes lately, but we know it’s not cool. And while this seems like a pretty obvious PSA, we feel obliged to remind you – leave your guns at home, people – regardless of your age.

Dunce caps should be mandatory for some people.
I must point out that your story has a major error in it. Concealed handguns are allowed in non-secured areas of airports in the state of Texas. I can, for example, carry my handgun into an airport while waiting to pick someone up, checking in, etc. No crime is committed until I go through the security checkpoint.
So are you saying it was possible that they didn't know that they would be going through a checkpoint before flying or that they didn't even know that they may be flying that day? I'm going with option A that these guys are just dumbasses.
