These city rankings are ridiculous. If they even use statistics they are hardly valid. As tempting as it is, I wish people would stop paying attention to them. Oh, and Austin is a huge college town, so of course it's a big drinking city. I seem to remember UT being considered by a similar "study" as the #1 drinking university in the US.

Agreed, its a novelty report. Too bad they didn't do any actual research. Sort of like the restaurant report - just because we have more strict standards, it looks like we have a worse situation due to the amount of "violations" our places have received. Fact is, most places don't have the same standards that we do in Austin. Its all about perception and peoples' ability to belive whatever is put in front of them.

Psssh. I could drink Milwaukee under the table.

Also, look at the actual article about this poll on forbes.com. They refer to the "Wagon Wheel Bar". Um......you mean The Broken Spoke? I have a hard time trusting the validity of research in which they can't even correctly identify one of the most famous bars in town.

So what do they call it when you drink 15 or more drinks in a single session? I call it a Tuesday afternoon, but I'm sure the scientific types call it something else.

They really need to quantify "binge drinking" more. If I drink 5 shots in a half-hour I might be close to what we call "blacking out". If I drink 5 beers over the course of 10 hours, I'd be what we call - "sober".
