Art Preview: Caroline Wright's Migration

Migration: Recent Works by Caroline Wright
Saturday, August 9
Bay6 Gallery and Studios (5305 Bolm Rd)
One night show, Saturday, August 9, 7-10pm, gallery hours Sunday, August 10, 2-5 pm
[info]
Caroline Wright’s entire world is about calculated movement. The yoga instructor/cellist/painter's deft hands and agile body carry her from one artistic endeavor to the next.

Wright's latest series of artworks on paper, Migration, reflect her love of movement. The colorful abstract pieces flow from one into the next, collectively creating a story of transit in layers of movement. They'll be on display this weekend at the new East Austin art space, Bay6 Gallery and Studios.

Wright describes her work as following a similar path, suggesting the same landmass over time, populating, vegetating and eroding. Wright, a native Austinite with a degree in visual art and art history from Brown University, is an artist in residence at Bay6. She's also the cellist for the instrumental band Mediums, who will perform at 9 p.m. during Saturday's opening.

Migration will be on display on Saturday and Sunday.
