Video: Bill Bishop on The Daily Show

We watched last night as Austin author (and former blogger for The Statesman) Bill Bishop represented our fair city on The Daily Show. In this clip, he discusses his new book (The Big Sort: Why the Clustering of Like-Minded America Is Tearing Us Apart), Texans buying more guns, and strange Austin lawn art: "My wife and I moved to Austin . . . we'd drive around and see neighbors with bowling ball art . . ."

Jon Stewart tells Bishop at the end of the interview, "You live in a f*cked up neighborhood." Little does he know . . .

I wonder where he lives...can anyone google street view that shizz?

My sources have him in 78704, so there ya go. =)

More specifically -- i hear -- the Travis Heights neighborhood.

yeah, he lives in Travis Heights.

Lasso was awesome. I miss that blog. It was the best thing about the Statesman Web site, which says nothing, I realize, but it was still a good one. I might have to pick up his book.

trza - I miss Lasso too! I remember when I read that he was giving the blog up so that he could write a book, I was so disappointed. I'm giving the book a try tonight.

I saw the book at Bookpeople and read a chapter - definitely interesting stuff and I'll probably buy a copy soon. Wonder if AC and M1EK would be interested in doing a book club report/review?

OMG the Austinist book club! What an idea...
