It's quite the shame that this is Maneja Beto's last live show of 2008, but everyone should be grateful they let us know so we don't have to miss it. The always enjoyable quintet sure has carved themselves quite a nice little niche in the Austin music scene, and their dignified and eclectic presence makes them one of the few local bands appealing to most of Austin's diverse population. Their indie-en-español arrives with no shortage of energy, and they use everything from organs to cello to craft a unique mix of modern pop and Tejano. The quintet's music has matured over the years, but their live show is still a bonafide ticket to an fun evening, so make sure not to miss out, because it may be awhile before you get another chance.

Opening up is Consider the Source, a rollicking and loud quartet who channel early Alkaline Trio and other fiery bands of the early twenty-first century. Frontman Seth Grueneberg's emotional approach sets them in line with a slew of other successful radio bands of the past dozen years, and their live show is at times blisteringly fast-paced. Getting the early evening going is Ian Orth, one of the two DJs from the excellent spin outfit Learning Secrets—it will be interesting to see what he does when left to his solo devices, but chances are that it will be very danceable, while not compromising the intellect. Altogether, it looks to be a wide-ranging night at the Mohawk, and, like we said, who knows how long before we're lucky enough to catch Maneja Beto again, so show 'em some love. We'll be sending two lucky winners to the show with their guest, so fill out the form to try your luck!
